Where is the sacral chakra?

The second chakra is associated with the pelvic bowl, the sacrum, the reproductive organs, and the abdominals below the belly button.

What is the sacral chakra called in Sanskrit?

In Sanskrit, the second chakra is known as svadhisthana. Svadhisthana can be translated as “sacred abode”—your creative visions and your reproductive endeavors are your sacred birth right!

What color is the sacral chakra?

The second chakra is associated with the color orange and all things dark, moist, and juicy—think of the inside of a womb-like pumpkin. Yep! That’s your sacral chakra.

Balance and unblock your sacral chakra with a vision board.

Make a vision board so that you can see your inner creative vision manifest itself right before your very eyes! It’s easier to work towards a creative vision on a daily basis when you have a visual representation of it. Leave it on your meditation altar space so that it’s the first thing you see every morning when you’re breathing, journaling, and doing your spiritual reading.

What yoga poses support the sacral chakra?

Incorporate seated postures like baddha konasana (bound angle pose) and sukhasana (cross- legged seat / contented space pose) into your daily practice to balance the energy at the second chakra.

What foods nourish the sacral chakra?

Orange, moist, gooey foods such as pumpkins and gourds are soothing, nourishing, and balancing to the sacral chakra.

Gluten-free (Vegan-izable) Pumpkin Spice Bread

50 minutes (10 mins prep, 40 mins cook); serves 6

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas*

  • 7.5 oz organic pumpkin puree (half of a 15 oz can)

  • 2 pasture raised eggs (see note below for vegan recipe)

  • 3/4 cup maple syrup (adjust to your desired level of sweetness)

  • 3/4 cup walnuts

  • 3/4 cup almond flour

  • 3/4 cup cassava flour

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil + 1 tbsp to grease your baking dish

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

  • pinch sea salt

Optional for a last step:

1/2 cup semisweet chocolate baking chips- Guittard is my fave!

1/2 cup pecan pieces

*A whole apple, core removed, works great if you ever run out of banana!

Instructions and serving:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F.

  2. Grease baking dish (I used Pyrex) with 1 tbsp coconut oil.

  3. Combine all ingredients (except chocolate chips and pecan pieces) in food processor.

  4. Pour blended batter into baking dish and bake for 35-40 mins. If you are using chocolate chips and pecans, add them to the top layer of your loaf about halfway through baking.

  5. Remove loaf from oven when top of loaf is golden. Allow loaf to cool COMPLETELY before slicing.

VEGANS:

Make this loaf without the two eggs! Instead, whisk 2 tbsp flax seed meal with 4 tbsp water. This is your magical binding agent. Enjoy!
