About the instructors:
Jackie Crown | Perinatal Wellness Coach, CPD, DACM, L.Ac
Jackie is the founder of Fourthouse Wellness, an SF/Marin-based practice focused on elevating the postpartum experience. She is a certified Postpartum Doula (CPD) and licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac), calling upon her training in acupuncture, herbal medicine, functional nutrition and doula care to guide her clients through pregnancy and postpartum. A fervent believer that postpartum recovery starts long before childbirth, Jackie offers her clients a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare them for the inevitable body, mind and spiritual changes that occur in early motherhood. Jackie holds space for her clients in a deeply empathic and non-judgemental way, offering clinical recommendations according to the research, and peer support based on her own experiences as a mother of three young children. She is immensely passionate about postpartum wellness and specifically perinatal mental health, serving on the Board of Directors for Postpartum Support International.
Ali Vogt, LMFT
As a mother, psychotherapist and feminist, Ali Vogt LMFT is passionate about maternal mental health. Too often there seems like a "right" way to give birth, feed, and raise a child - and to feel while doing those activities. An important part of a parent's mental health is to have a safe, non-judgmental place to share in an open and honest way what being a new parent is really like. Ali aims to provide a safe place in her practice to talk about issues like depression, anxiety, reproductive loss and grief, and processing a traumatic birth. Ali leads the Town of Fairfax's New Parent and Baby Support Group which meets on Thursdays from 11 - 12:30. The group is drop in and is free. Please see www.alivogt.com and www.marinperinataltherapy.com for more information or email ali@alivogt.com.
Carolyn Latham, PT, DPT
Dr. Carolyn Latham, PT is the owner and head physical therapist of Verity Physical Therapy & Wellness. She is a past D-1 Cross-Country and Track athlete, a 4-time marathoner including the Boston and NYC marathons, and an Iron(wo)man. Carolyn earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
“I help the active woman navigate pregnancy and postpartum so she can safely get back to her active lifestyle and feel like herself again.”
Carolyn fully believes that every woman deserves to understand her body better as she navigates through pregnancy and postpartum; she helps educate and instruct women on how to proactively rehabilitate and recover her body postpartum so she can live the happy, healthy, and active life she thrives on.
Ashley Stachon, Prenatal Yoga Instructor
Meet yourself on the mat where you are at this very moment. This is a philosophy that deeply resonates with Ashley in both her practice and her teaching. In 2004, just out of college, she was initially attracted to the practice because of the handstands and splits, being a former competitive gymnast. Over the years, as she began to let the practice in, she realized the benefits of what she practiced on the mat, and the profound influence it had on her life off the mat. Ashley began teaching in 2012, but found her true calling when she got pregnant with her daughter in 2016 and started teaching pre and postnatal yoga. Passionate about guiding women through the transformative process of pregnancy and becoming a parent, Ashley teaches a strong, alignment based practice where mamas can connect more deeply to their own body through movement, breath, and mindfulness practices. Ashley strives to empower her students by teaching them about the changes that take place in their body during pregnancy and after giving birth. Now a mother of two, she knows the importance of creating a community of strong women that can support each other and she is honored to do that work at Metta Mama.
