Matrescence is the journey from maiden to mother (and from mother of one to mother of more, along with so many other things). It’s a rite of passage and a personal transformation in one, and it’s largely ignored in our modern society.
This motherhood reflection circle by Kate Seaton, creator of The Motherlines, will bring mothers of all ages and stages together in community to pause, reflect on, and share our unique motherhood experiences.
No one’s motherhood is exactly like yours. We each have our own versions of what it feels like, requires, illuminates and inspires. But no one can sympathize or hold space for our unique journeys like a circle of moms. Come to feel held and heard. Come to honor your matrescence and the matrescence of your friends and neighbors. Tears welcome but not required.
Together we’ll:
Sit in community with other mothers looking to pause and reflect on their matrescence
Consider what motherhood has asked of us and how it’s changed us
Share what wants to be held and heard by the community
Hold compassionate space for each other and the universal experience of motherhood

About the instructor:
Kate Seaton is a mother of two, a matrescence doula and a certified Birth Story Listener, and the creator of the matrescence support practice, The Motherlines. She works one-on-one with women helping them find healing in difficult birth experiences and tune into their unique version of motherhood honoring what works for them. Her experiences in matrescence and traumatic birth carried her home to herself and her soul’s work: supporting women in the transition to and through every stage of motherhood. She lives in San Rafael with her husband and two daughters and is passionate about restoring feminine balance to the world.
